Mrs. Louise A. DeWire
Mrs. Louise A. DeWire, wife, mother, and grandmother, 80, of Rowe Street, Tamaqua, died Friday, April 25, surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of Raymond J. DeWire Sr. They were married for 60 years.
She had worked at the former Atlas Powder Co., where she meet Raymond, and, after raising her family, was employed in various textile mills in Tamaqua.Born in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late Guido and Emma (Pacelli) Coccio.
She was a 1951 graduate of the former Blythe Township High School and was an active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua, and a member of the C.W.E.A.
Louise loved children and was nurturing to all. She enjoyed the summer and her time at the Bungalow pool. She was always the life of the party.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Louann D., wife of John Christopher of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a son, Raymond J. "Bud" Jr., and his wife, Nadine, of Tamaqua; seven grandchildren who she adored and who affectionately referred to her as "Nana," including Raymond Dean DeWire, and his wife, Brittany, Emily Christopher, April Christopher, Dane DeWire, John Christopher, Deana Rae DeWire and Karley Hine; two great-grandchildren, Davin and Kameron; two sisters, Jeanina Majka of Reading and Jane Morgans of Harrisburg; and two brothers, Joseph of Philadelphia and Albie, and his wife, Bobbie, of Tamaqua.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemarie Jupin; and two brothers, Guido, who died on April 16, 2014, and Phillip.
Service: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment, parish cemetery, Tamaqua. Call 9-9:45 a.m. Friday in the church. Contributions in her name may be made to the Bungalow Pool, Tamaqua Borough Building, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, Pa. 18252. Arrangements by E.
