Joseph J. Perricone, 56, of East Broad Street, Tamaqua, died Tuesday, April 29, upon arrival at the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. He was the 35-year companion of Lillian Boyle.
He owned and operated Joe's Auto Repair, Tamaqua, for 15 years, and previously had worked at All American Jeep, Tamaqua, for over 20 years.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of Theresa (Perricone) Fernandez of Coaldale and the late Robert Walls.
He loved racing, and, in his spare time, was a mechanic for Surma Racing, Coaldale.
Surviving in addition to his companion are four daughters, Andrea, wife of Peter Matukonis of Collegeville, Lynn, wife of Frank Navratil of Mahanoy City, Diana Boyle of Tamaqua and Michelle, wife of Jason Kunkel of Mohrsville; two sons, Michael Hartz, and his wife, Debbie, and Butch Boyle, both of Tamaqua; two brothers, Michael Fernandez and Gino Fernandez, both of Coaldale; a sister, Rita Montalvo of Illinois; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Joseph M. Fernandez.
