Lawrence A. Hoffman, 78, of Lehighton, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, in his home. He was the husband of Janice (Frey) Hoffman for 55 years.
He was a machinist for the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, and Mack Trucks, Allentown, for many years.
Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late William J. and Clara (Ahner) Hoffman.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.
Hoffman was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Mahoning Township, where he served on Council.
He was a member of the Lehighton Masonic Lodge No. 621, the Valley of Allentown, Bethlehem Forest Masonic Lodge No. 61, the IREM Shriners, Wilkes-Barre, the Hazleton Shrine and the Lions Club of Mahoning.
He loved hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Eric, and his wife, Jennifer, of Northampton; and two grandchildren, Henry and Paul.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Wallace.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, St. John Lutheran Church, Mahoning Valley, with the Revs. Christopher and Allison Deforest officiating. Interment, church cemetery. Call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Schaeffer Funeral Home, Third and Alum streets, Lehighton, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Masonic service 7 p.m. Friday.
