Dale N. Schleicher Sr., 81, of 517 W. Lizard Creek Road, Lehighton passed into eternal rest on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his residence with his loving wife and family at his side. He was the husband of Clara E. "Patty" Doll Schleicher. They were married for 61 years this past Feb. 21.
Born in East Penn Township, he was a son of the late William G. "Willy" and Myrtle B.M. (Haupt) Schleicher.
He served our country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
A very hard working individual, he was dedicated to the family business as the owner/operator of East Penn Trucking & Schleichers Incorporated.
He was a member of Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield.
He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and in his spare time enjoyed camping, boating, and a good round of golf.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Dianne M. Gerber of Lehighton, and Donna K., wife of Dale Heptner, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three sons, Dale N Schleicher II, Duane A. Schleicher, and his wife Lavona, Dan W. Schleicher, and his wife Trell; a sister, Kay Ann, wife of Gordon Scherer Jr. of Lehighton; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Lee Schleicher.
Service: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 5 p.m. in Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, 1742 Dinkey Rd., Ashfield, with the Rev. Michael J. Bodnyk officiating, Call Wednesday, to 3 to 5 p.m. at the church. Interment, will full military honors, under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO in the parish cemetery.
