George H. Cope|
George H. Cope, 83, of Elm Street, Tamaqua, died Tuesday, June 24, in Hometown. He was the husband of Anne (Copper) Cope.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by the Dana Corporation, Reading, and previously had worked at the No. 14 Colliery, Tamaqua.
Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mae (Shirey) Cope.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Cope was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of the C.H. Berry American Legion Post 173 and AMVETS Post 1, both of Tamaqua, and the Carbon County Beagle Club; and was a life member of the Tamaqua Italian Club.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, George H. Jr., and his wife, Roxanne, of Jim Thorpe; two daughters, Leanne Blevins of Oxford and Karen Vandak of Coaldale; six grandchildren, John Blevins, Joshua Jones, Melissa Momcilovich, Robert Jones, George Cope and Amanda Cope; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jaydenn and Ariel.
The last immediate member of his family, he was also preceded in death by a daughter Patricia, who died in 2002.
