Mrs. Doreen J. Kromer
Mrs. Doreen J. Kromer, 85, of Lehighton, passed away on Friday, June 27, in her home. She was the widow of Edward E. Kromer, who died in 1997.
She was a supervisor in the pressing department of various mills in the Lehighton area for many years.
Born in England, she was a daughter of the late Alec and Beatrice (Thorpe) Goreham.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton, where she was a past Sunday school teacher and was an active volunteer in the church.
The deceased also belonged to the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the order of Eastern Star, both of Lehighton, and was a past member of the Lehighton Rotary Club.
She loved knitting, reading, playing cards, beating her grandchildren in Chinese checkers and poker, traveling and visits to the mountain.
Surviving are four daughters, Doreen, wife of Mike Harleman, and Diana, wife of Joe Koma, both of Palmerton, and Geraldine, wife of Stephen Holland, and Deborah, wife of Mike Strawser, both of Lehighton; two brothers, Peter and Carl, both in England; a sister Vivian, wife of Ernest Regensburg in New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Kromer of Bethlehem; 12 grandchildren, Greg, Matthew, John, Keith, Amye, Stephanie, Jonice, Jennifer, Andrew, Josh, Jesse and Jurnee; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by a son, Edward E. Jr.; a brother Alan; and a sister, Jacqueline Chapman.
Service: Memorial service 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, Schaeffer Funeral Home, Third and Alum streets, Lehighton, with the Rev. Allen Heckman officiating. Interment, Lehighton Cemetery. Call 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
