Allen R. Breiner Jr.
Allen R. Breiner Jr., 69, of Elm Avenue, Barnesville, died Sunday, July 5, in Allentown. He was the husband of Nancy (Mraz) Smulligan Breiner, who he married in April of 2013, and the late Sally (Smultsky) Breiner, who died in 2011.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by the Borough of Tamaqua as an electrician and code enforcement officer.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Allen R. Breiner Sr., who died in 2008, and Evelyn A. (Gerber) Breiner, who died in 2004.A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from October 1965 to October 1969.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
A 1964 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he was a member of the Tamaqua Wireless Association (W3ZRQ) since 1959; American Legion C.H. Berry Post 173, Tamaqua; the Christopher Columbus Society; Schuylkill Amateur Repeater Asociation; Tuscarora Flying Club; South Ward Fire Company and the Ryan Township Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Patty Breiner of Tamaqua and Renee Breiner of Bowmanstown; a son, Thomas Breiner of Pottsville; 206 foster children; two stepsons, John M. Smulligan of Barnesville and Bruce J. Smulligan, and his wife, Tracy, of Deer Lake; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Sylvia, wife of George Seely in Ohio, and Linda, wife of George Kunkel of Bear Creek.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, Zizelmann-Roche Fueral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Virginia Goodwin officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
