Mrs. Gladys H. Burghardt, 91, of Princeton Avenue, Palmerton, died Monday evening, Aug. 25, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Palmerton Campus. She was the widow of Dr. Stanley I. Burghardt, who died in 2007.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Previously, she was a secretary for the RCA Corporation, Research Director, New York.
Born in Union City, N.J., she was a daughter of the late August and Anna (Kortlang) Peiffer.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.
The deceased was a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School of Business, New York, and had attended Washington State University.
She was a member of the Palmerton Concourse Club and enjoyed playing bridge.
She enjoyed traveling and had visited the Holy Land and various other countries throughout the globe.
Surviving are a daughter Elaine, wife of George E. Beam of Slatington; a son, Carl S., and his wife, Norine, of Lehighton; six grandchildren, Megan, Douglas, Gregory, Cory, Nicholas and Sara; a great-grandson William; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joan M., who died in 1992; and an infant granddaughter.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton, with the Rev. Willliam T. Campion officiating. Interment, parish's new cemetery, Palmerton. Call 10:30-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Contributions in her name may be made to the memorial fund of the church, 243 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, Pa. 18071.
