Mildred E. Beisel Mildred E. Beisel RN, 99, fomerly of The Lehighton Hi Rise, Apt. 805, passed away May 14 at Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township.Born in Elizabeth, N.J., she was the daughter of the late James and Carrie Mae (Anthony) Beisel Sr.She graduated in 1927 from Lehighton High School and in 1930 from Methodist Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing. She earned her BS & MA degrees in Public Health & Administration of Health Services from New York University in 1944/1947.She was an instructor of Public Health Nursing at Hunter College in New York City and at St. John's University in Brooklyn, NY., She worked as a staff nurse at the VNA of N.Y., she was assistant professor of public health at Cornell University Hospital School of Nursing and the New York Hospital, and worked as a staff nurse at the Monroe County VNA.She initiated and developed the Home Health Service of Gnaden Huetten Hospital which was certified in 1973.She was a member of the NYU Alumni Association of University Professors, The American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, American Public Health Association, & The American Association of University Professors.She was a member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Bowmanstown. Surviving are two nephews, William Beisel & his wife Diane, and Dana Beisel & his wife Wanda, all of Lehighton one great-nephew, great-nieces, one great-great-nephew, and great-grea nieces.She was predeceased by two brothers, James Jr. & Ralph Beisel. Services: Graveside Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, May 19, at 11 a.m. in The Lehighton Cemetery, 4th & Alum Street, Lehighton with The Rev. Dr. John D. Inghram officiating.
