James R. McMurray, 62, of Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, died Sunday, Sept. 28, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton. He was the husband of April L. (Stem) McMurray since Dec. 24, 2002.

He was a devoted husband and father.
He worked in freight and shipping for the DHL Company, Allentown, and previously worked for Air Borne Express and TWA Transportation.
Born in Kane, McKean County, he was a son of James and Evelyn (Betham) McMurray of Concord, N.C.
He was a member and associate pastor of the Church of God, Palmerton.
McMurray was a 1966 graduate of Kane High School.
Surviving in addition to his widow and parents are three daughters, Tammy Santoro and Candy McMurray-Prozzley, both of Pittsburgh, and Amber Vacaro of Nazareth; three sons, James S. McMurray of Palmerton, John Vacaro III of York and Joshua Vacaro of Connellsville; a sister Joy, wife of Christopher Snyder of Concord; two brothers, Russell of Whitehall and Brian of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 14 grandchildren.
