Lester R. Gerber

Obituary Condolences

Lester Ray Gerber, 75, died Dec. 21, 2010 of natural causes at his home in Dover, DE.
Born on June 21, 1935 in Andreas, Pa., he was the son of the late Melvin and Margaret (Faust) Gerber, and the oldest of five children; Lars Gerber, Lynn Gerber and Barbara Lushia of PA and Beverly Everett of CA.
A veteran of WWII, the Korean, and Vietnam wars, he served with the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, and retired as a Technical Sergeant. After his retirement, he became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Elks Club and the American Legion where he continued his support for the U.S. military.
In addition, he was a baseball umpire, football referee and horse trainer for more than 40 years.
Mr. Gerber is survived by three daughters, Wendy King of MI, Jacqueline Gerber of CT, and Donna Barker of NC. He is further survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services: A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tamaqua, PA, the date and time to be announced. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the family in c/o of Donna Barker, 152 Crutchfield Drive, Cameron, NC 28326 to be given to a Wounded Warriors organization in his honor.
