Charles F. "Carl" Seng, 78, of Allentown, formerly of Jim Thorpe, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (Frankenberg) Seng and the former husband of Doris (Hillegass) Seng of Allentown.
A designer and machinist, he began his career at the former Neuweiler Brewery, Allentown, and went on to work at the Purolator Company, Allentown, and the Fuller Company, Catasauqua.
He was a maintenance supervisor at the former Wiley House, Fountain Hill, and retired in 1996 from Precision Medical, Inc., Northampton.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Anthony E. and Helen M. (Schaffer) Seng.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served as a private in the 38th Infantry Divison, Tank Company.
Seng was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.
A life member of the Lehigh County Historical Society, he could often be found in the library of the old courthouse researching family history and sharing information to be added to the society's cemetery archives. He loved genealogy and treasured the time he spent with his children sharing their family history.
Surviving in addition to his former wife are three daughters, Linda A., wife of James Jebitsch, and Elizabeth L., wife of John Kromer, both of Allentown, and Anna M., wife of Jeffrey Siwy of Macungie; a son, Charles F. of Allentown; a brother Francis, and his wife, Elvira, of Dunmore; two sisters, Mary, wife of Herbert Ring, and Barbara Lukow, both of Allentown; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by a sister, Christina Manley.
Service: Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, 18th & Turner streets, Allentown. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, J.S.
