William H. Douthart Jr. Obituary
William H. Douthart Jr., 93, of Lehigh Avenue, Palmerton, died late Wednesday evening, Jan. 23, in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township.
He was the husband of Lillian B. (Booz) Douth-art.
He was a mechanical design drafter and industrial contractor for the RCA Corporation and the U.S. Naval Air Engineering Center, Lakr Hurst, N.J., for over 40 years.Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William H. Sr. and Edna Ann (Happ) Douthart.
He was a member of St. John Episcopal Church, Palmerton, where he volunteered as a chalice bearer and an usher.
Douthart attended Lafayette College and was a member of the Delta Upsilon International fraternity.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having participated in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, where he received three Battle Stars. He was also the recipient of the Philippine Liberation two Battle Stars and the Korean Service Medal, and was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart. He attained the rank of captain.
A 32nd Degree Mason, he belonged to the William L. Elkins Lodge No. 271, F. and A.M., for over 65 years, and was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Trenton, N.J.
Douthart was an avid hunter, fisherman and coin collector. He was a family man with high moral values. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Linda L. of Middletown, N.Y.; a son, William H. III, and his wife, Denise, of Lehighton; six grandchildren, William H. IV, Brittany, Emily, Chas, Eric and Frank; and six great-grandchildren, Star, Izzy, Alyssa, Gavin, Lucis and Charlette.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Duane E. "Duke."
Service: Memorial service with the Rev. Abraham J. Valiath officiating will be announced. Arrangements by Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.
