Ralph D. Frey
Ralph D. Frey, 90, of Lehighton, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 24, in his home. He was the husband of Helen (Miller) Frey. They observed their 72nd wedding anniversary on July 5.
Prior to retiring in 1987, he was a mechanic for 24 years by the former IDC, Interstate Dress Carrier Trucking Co., Lehighton.
Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Elmer and Ethel (Wertman) Frey.
He was a life member of St. Peter Union Church, Mantzville, and a charter member of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company.
Frey enjoyed working on his family farm, deer hunting and walking his dog.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Robert of Lehighton; four daughters, Carol, wife of James Beers of Schnecksville, Ruth Ann, wife of Robert Wehr of Andreas, and Laverne, wife of Merle Hunsicker, and Marjorie, wife of Dennis Hallman, both of Lehighton; a brother Maurice of Hollidaysburg; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Walter; three sisters, Mary Neifert, Gladys Steigerwalt and Esther Snyder; a granddaughter, Diane Hunsicker; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Frey.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 W. Penn Pike, Rt. 309, New Ringgold, with the Rev. Cheryl L. Moore officiating. Private interment at convenience of family. Call 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Contributions in his name may be made to the St. Peter Union Church Building Fund, 184 St. Peter's Rd., Tamaqua, Pa. 18252, and Arcadia Hospice, 7248 Tilghman St., Suite 160, Allentown, Pa. 18106.
