News Death Notice LAWS, Sr., Challis J. Age 72, of Carlisle, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015. He was born October 28, 1942 in Sandgap, Kentucky, the son of the late Howard and Lillie (Young) Laws. Challis was formerly employed with Worthington Steel for 22 years and retired in 2004. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers. Challis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruby Laws; his three sons, Johnny (Rebecca) Laws, Jerry (Lisa) Laws Jr., Jacob (Sara) Laws; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie (Gregg) Moberly. Funeral service will be Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Homes, 40 North Main Street, Springboro, Ohio, with Pastor Chris King officiating. STANBERY, Alice Mae*  
News Death Notice STANBERY, Alice Mae Age 96 of Hamilton, passed away at Bradford Place on Thursday, April 23, 2015. She was born in Toledo on July 21, 1918 to Stephan and Stella (Jazionowski) Nowakowski. Alice was employed as a clerk for the County Commissioners Office and the Board of Elections in Lucas County. She was a member of St. Hedwig Parish and Rosary Cathedral in Toledo for many years. On December 19, 1942 in Toledo, she married Sanford Richard Stanbery, and he preceded her in death on January 27, 1972. Her family was her life. She is survived by her children, Paul (Patricia) Stanbery of Hamilton, Michael (Paula) Stanbery of Knoxville, TN, and Fr. Stephan Stanbery, of Archbold, OH; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Teresa Karwowski; and one infant brother Casimir Nowakowski. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 26, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for family only. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Toledo, OH on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at 1PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor. News Death Notice ALCORN, Henry Lewis "Peter Rabbit" Of Pleasant Run, Ohio was born April 19, 1926 in Lincoln County, Kentucky the younger of two sons to William and Georgia (nee Hunn) Alcorn. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Henry was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy 1944 - 1951. He was a retiree from The Procter & Gamble Company. He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Sylvia "Jean" (Davis), four daughters, Henrietta "Penny" (Tony) Coles, Kimberly (Michael) Lee, Lisa Harrison and LaShawnda (Tim) Johns; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary E. Alcorn and oldest daughter, Mary Anita Ross. Services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Thompson, Hall and Jordan Funeral Homes 11400 Winton Road, Forest Park, Ohio. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio.

BARCH III, Paul Elmer  
News Death Notice BARCH, III, Paul Elmer Age 38 of Franklin, Ohio and formerly of Tennessee passed peacefully April 19, 2015 after a short and unexpected illness a the Atrium Medical Center. Paul spent the majority of his life in Tennessee and moved to this area a few years ago to be with family. He enrolled in school and earned his GED and also earned his CDL certificate through the Warren County Career Center. Paul was preceded in death by his grandfather Paul Barch, Sr. and brother Don Robert Nicholson. He is survived by his mother and step-father Teresa and Gerry Nicholson of Springboro; his father Sonny Barch of Tennessee; his brothers Todd Barch of Springboro and Lee and Chase Barch; sister Nikki Nicholson of Franklin and maternal grandparents Richard and Grace Armacost of Springboro and many other family members and friends. News Death Notice BARRETT, Matthew Paul Age 33 of Middletown went to meet his Heavenly Father on Wednesday April 22, 2015. He was born November 15, 1981 in Middletown, Ohio. Matthew leaves behind his beautiful daughter Grace Leanne Barrett. Gracie was the love of his life and the center of his universe. He was a member of A New Beginning Church in Middletown. He is also survived by his parents Sheila and Arnold Duncan; one sister Stephanie (Scott) Baker; two brothers Arnold Duncan Jr. and Charles (Ileen) Barrett III; one sister in law Carrie Duncan as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Matthew was preceded in death by his father Charles Barrett II, his grandparents Rev. Lawrence and Opal Flannery, and his uncle Robert Flannery. Visitation will be at A New Beginning Church 200 S. Marshall Rd. Middletown, OH 45044 on Sunday April 26, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. BIRKHOLZ, Charles R.* - Hamilton  
News Death Notice BIRKHOLZ, Charles R. Age 75, of Miamisburg, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Sycamore Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1939 in Islip, New York, the son of John Robert Birkholz and Sylvannia (Watkins) Birkholz. Charles graduated from Miami University with a Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration. He was employed by General Motors for 32 years, retiring at the age of 52. After retirement, he had a consulting firm with close friend Jim Villella. Jim and Charles co-authored a book together. Charles was the business manager for CCC Christian School in the Cayman Islands for one year as a missionary. He served on work camps to several other countries. Charles was a longtime, active member of Towne Boulevard First Church of God and Breiel Boulevard First Church of God where he served as the business manager for eight years. He loved hiking and backpacking, he and his friends hiked 1100 miles on the Appalachian Trail. He loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dee (Downing) Birkholz; one son, Clint (Christy) Birkholz; and three grandchildren, William, Claire, and Reid Birkholz. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Turner. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, at the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God with Chaplain June Downing and Pastor Wes Duff officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Breiel Boulevard First Church of God, 2000 N. FLICK, Loretta Mae (Dunn)* - Fairfield  
News Death Notice FLICK (nee Dunn), Loretta Mae Age 73 of Clearwater, FL passed away on March 31, 2015. She was born December 15, 1941 in Hamilton, OH to the late Floyd Dunn and Mary Baker (nee Havens). Loretta was a graduate of Talawanda High School. She was a homemaker, a member of the Serendipity Mobile Home Park Shuffle Board Team and ran their Bingo games for over 10 years. She is survived by her son Randy (Barb) Flick and daughter Lori (Gary) Graves; sisters Patricia Greer and Diana Knauer; grandchildren Chris, Tyler, Sarah, Lauren, Evan and Andrew; also survived by numerous family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Ralph Flick, her son Roger Flick, her step father Ed Baker, and her sister Dottie Davis. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in honor of both Loretta and her husband Ralph as they are laid to rest together on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Friends and family will be received from 9AM until time of memorial service (10AM). Inurnment to immediately follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery, 1314 Greenwood Ave, Hamilton, OH.
