CRUZE, David F. "Papaw" age 70, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was born June 22, 1943 in Corbin, Kentucky, and moved to Ohio when he was one year old. He was raised on Wilbraham Road, and graduated from Lemon-Monroe High School. He served four years in the U. S. Marine Corps with two tours in Vietnam, and earned the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge. David started working at Armco Steel in 1969, and worked as a driver in the Truck Section, retiring in 2000 from AK Steel (formerly Armco) after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and his Saturday morning breakfast at Frisch's with his AK family. He spent many hours in his garage repairing everything from the neighbors' lawn mowers to kid's bicycles. He was a great husband, father, and "Papaw". Preceding him in death were his parents, Amos and Geneva "Faye" (Adams) Cruze; his daughter and son-in-law, Myrt and Bill Creekbaum; and his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Bud Rowland. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bertha DeHaven Cruze; three daughters, Margo (Phil) Reische, Peggy (Mark) Lacy, and Donna (friend Gary) Gibbs; nine grandchildren, Bettie Sue (Bill) Jones, April (Steve) Craft, Rob (Holly) Banta, Angi (Jeff) Albertson, Jason Carter, Sammi Gibbs, Elijah (friend Jess) Neese, Jackie (Buck) Greene, and Billy (Amy) Creekbaum; 16 great grandchildren; three sons-in-law, Doug Howard, Bucky Gibbs and Pete Carter; one niece, Janie (Darryl) Stamper; two nephews, Bill (Laura) Rowland and Davey Rowland; and several great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Risner officiating. A Memorial Interment Service with Military Honors will be held at a later date.
