News Death Notice

HEFLIN, Emily Florence age 87, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the home of her daughter with whom she was living. She was born November 9, 1926 in Matewan, West Virginia the daughter of the late Lawrence and Cella Mann Williams. She had attended the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Emily enjoyed singing, adored her husband, and loved her family. She is survived by her children, Etta Hawthorne of Middletown, Sharon Shephard of Hillsboro, "Chat" (Jackie) Heflin of Trenton, Rachelle Land of Middletown, Margie Lakes of Hillsboro, and "Chat" M. (Delanea) Heflin of Hillsboro; several grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Garland Heflin on May 2, 2001; daughter Betty Jo Heflin; son-in-law Ronnie Bray; two sisters, Opal McCoy and Hazel Craft; and two brothers John L. Williams and Steven Williams. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Brother Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
