FLANNERY, Anna Lou [Allen] age 81, of Monroe, Ohio peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton with loved ones surrounding her. Born September 29, 1931, in Liberty, Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James Booker Allen and Flora Barger Allen. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1953 in Elementary Education and was a Kentucky Colonel. Anna Lou was a well-loved 4th grade teacher of many years at Amanda Elementary in Middletown, Ohio. Her activities included: The Emmaus Walk, United Methodist Women, Share Group, Prosser #367 O.E.A., fishing, boating at Green River Lake, and square dancing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend to all that knew her. She is survived by her husband of nearly sixty years, Darsie F. Flannery, sons David (Marsha) of Kettering, Ohio and Marc (Brenda), of Lebanon, Ohio, her dear grandchildren Josh, Caitlin, Kyle, Casey and precious great-grandchildren, Bella and Liam. There will be a memorial service at Monroe United Methodist Church, 206 East Avenue, Monroe, Ohio 45050 at 1:30 PM on Tuesday May 7, 2013 with a reception to follow in the church's Atchley Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Monroe United Methodist Women's Helping Hands Fund, an organization Anna Lou served with for many years.
