News Death Notice

HILTON, Betty J. age 87, of Hamilton, passed away on December 31, 2013. She was born October 25, 1926 in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Edna Mae (Cisle) Yerigan and Elmer Van Lieu. She graduated from Ross High School in 1944. Betty attended Taylor University where she sang in a trio and performed with their traveling chorus. On August 17, 1946 Betty was united in marriage to Harold T. Hilton. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. Betty's love for singing led her, along with her sister-in-laws, Evelyn Gompf and Grace Thompson to form a singing group, called the Trebleaires. Betty also enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years and sang numerous beautiful solos. She was a long time member of the Ross Methodist Church before moving to Hamilton & then becoming a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. Betty was a talented seamstress and made beautiful clothes for many family members. During Harold's ownership and operation of Star Cleaners she worked along his side as the seamstress. She is survived by her son, Harold E. Hilton and daughter Kathy Phalen (Bugsy). Grand daughters Kellie Warren (Kyle), Kristie Hilton, Kathie Hilton, Kim Malcom (Dustin), Keri Kruger (Stephen) and 10 great grand children, Kody, Kaeden, Koury, Joseph, Autumn, Avery, Allie, Lyla, Estella and Maxston. She also leaves behind her brother Jerry Yerigan (Laura). She was preceded in death by her parents,& step father, Oliver Yerigan., daughter-in law, Karen and grand son Scott. Her beloved husband of 68 years, Harold , preceded her in death by only 39 days. Their love and devotion to each other was unparalleled. Her visitation will be Friday, January 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 4 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Grant Montgomery officiating. Interment to follow at the Venice Cemetery in Ross, Ohio.
