News Death Notice
SKILLINGS, Elwood 90, of Richmond, Indiana passed away Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born August 23, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Glenn & Vernona (Studebaker) Skillings. He attended Manchester College and the University of Dayton. He retired from Delco Products as a sound engineer and farmed near Medway, Ohio before going to Delco. He was an active member of the Richmond Church of the Brethren and was a longtime member of the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren. Elwood is survived by his children, Kathy (Greg) Pennell, John (Donna) Skillings, Beth (Dennis) Funderburg; son-in-law, Gary McGillivray; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Harold (Lois) Skillings; sisters, Mary Kathryn (Don) Severs, Nancy (James) Houseman; sisters-in-law, Margie Skillings, Carol Skillings, Martha (Harley) Orr and Marlene (Larry) McVey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ruth Ellen Skillings; their daughter, Karen McGillivray; brothers, Robert & Wilbur Skillings; sister, Bertha Groff and her husband, James. A gathering of family and friends will be 10-11 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2013 with funeral services at 11 AM at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio.
