Gwendolyn L. SEWELL Obituary

News Death Notice

SEWELL, Gwendolyn L. Age 83, of Trenton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 4, 2014, with family members at her bedside. She is reunited with her soul mate and husband of 59 years, Myrvine H. "Luke" Sewell, who left May 5, 2010, and her parents, Mima (Riley) and Corbett J. Manning. Her legacy includes love, generosity and dedication to her grateful family, and a persevering and independent spirit. Born July 27, 1930, in Middletown, she was an only child who attended Middletown High School before graduating from Monroe. She attended business school, and worked at Sorg Paper Company as administrative Secretary, but then she met Myrvine and they were soon married and she became a homemaker. Together they had five children and made sure they received educations and had everything they needed. She had a lifelong love of art, antiques and animals; caring for countless dogs, cats and ponies before moving to a farm in the Jacksonburg area where they raised everything from chickens to cattle. She hand-raised some lambs who needed special attention in her kitchen. They had farms in Gratis and Germantown, and later moved to Tennessee. She returned to Ohio after Myrvine's death, living near her oldest daughter Linda but in her own home with her beloved dog Buddy. She was active in church throughout her life, including Meadowlawn Church of God, Yankee Road Church of God and most recently, First Church of God in Monroe. The family is grateful to the Rev. Terry Ball, Pam Allen and her team of Vitas Hospice Care nurses and staff, Gwen's special cousins, Pauline Maloney and Suzanne Fultz, and everyone else who gave her comfort in the last days. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (David) Buchheit, Lori (Steve) Shepherd; three sons, Dan (Vickii), Tom (Becky), and Jimmy (Carmen); eight grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers, Amy Shepherd, T.J. Isaacs (Sara), Ryan (Sarah), Craig, Logan (Jeanne Bashaw), Michael and William (Betsy) Sewell; three step-grandchildren, Alex Murillo, Scott (Maria) and Brad Felblinger (Janise); and five great grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Rogers; Riley and Lincoln Sewell, and Benjamin Felblinger. Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2014 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Ball officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice of Cincinnati or to the First Church of God, Monroe, Ohio. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Condolences may be sent to the family at
