News Death Notice

ADKINS, Ida F. of Middletown, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Atrium Medical Center. She was born in Middletown, and graduated from Lakota High School. Ida was the owner/operator of Lord's and Lady's Barber Shoppe in Mayfield for 5 ½ years; then was a nurse's aide on Main I at Middletown Regional Hospital for nine years; and then was employed at Sally's Beauty Supply for two years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and signed for the Deaf during the services. She volunteered for five years at the Community Pregnancy Center. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ranzie and Lottie (Nickell) McGuire, Sr.; her husband, Norman Adkins, Sr. in 1996; and two brothers, Ranzie McGuire, Jr. and Ronald McGuire. She is survived by four children, Cynthia (Doug) Burdick, Christine (Scott) Ferris, Caron Griffin, and Norman (Judy) Adkins, Jr.; six grandchildren, Kyle Burdick, Andrew Burdick, Constance Ferris, Jessica Griffin, Norman "Buddy" Adkins III, Rachel (Nathan) Baumgartner; 3 great grandsons, Karson, Cameron and Aiden; four sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Centers, Pamela Lane, Pat Nickell, and Sheila (Harvey) Ebersole; two brothers, Timothy McGuire and Terrance McGuire; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, April 19, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1601 Jackson Lane, Middletown, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Cotton officiating. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Trenton, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1601 Jackson Lane, Middletown, Ohio 45044. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
