Andrew (Andy) Danyko, age 94, of Toledo passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013, at The Waterford at Levis Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine (Gerry). They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2012.

After 30 years, he retired from Champion Spark Plug as a process engineer. Formerly, he served his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker at the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.

During World War II, he trained to become a pilot for the Army Air Corps.

In his spare time, he enjoyed volunteering for Junior Achievement. Also, Andy was a winning track coach at St. John's Elementary School in Point Place. He was past president of the Over 55 Club at St. Patrick's of Heatherdowns, Toledo, Ohio. In his late 70's Andy finished 1st Place in the running long jump in the Senior Olympics and was ranked 13th in the country in 1991.

For recreation, he loved to ballroom dance, bowl, and go boating. Also, he traveled throughout the United States and Europe with his wife.

Andy is survived by his children, Carlene (Phil) Holst, Doug (Penny) Danyko, Michael (Lida) Danyko, and Lynn (Mark) Wagner. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua (Marcia) Holst, James Holst, Michele Lewis, Kevin Danyko, Heather Danyko, Lindsay Wagner, Sara Wagner, and Brian (Vanessa) Wagner; along with four great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, January 13, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 South Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the mortuary followed by the funeral mass in St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at The Waterford at Levis Commons for their care and loving concern.

The Danyko bunch,
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. He leaves me with many good memories. We were all brought up by the adults on 119th and he was one of The Dads for sure. Hope your Mom is coping.
Can't make the funeral but I will be there in spirit.

As a newlywed, it is so encouraging to see that the Danyko's marriage lasted 69 years. What an example he has left behind. To the family and friends who are mourning his death, I extend my sincere condolences. May you draw comfort from God's Word, knowing that He is the greatest source of comfort.
