Esther L.



Esther L. Merillat, age 95, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at her daughter Patricia's home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 2, 1917, in Adrian, MI to August and Martha (Yeager) Kobneck. Esther was employed as a sales associate in the jewelry department at Sears and Roebuck for 17 years. A talented artist, she enjoyed taking art classes and was especially skilled at oil painting. Esther also liked to sew, crochet and knit and was always busy with a project.

Esther is survived by her daughters, Paticia Smith of Lambertville, MI and Linda Diroff, Petersburg, MI; grandson, Daniel L. Batouche, and granddaughters, Julie Lynn (Aaron) Gray and Abby Nicole Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Merillat; her parents; brothers, Ralph and Stanley Kobneck, and son-in-law, John Smith.

Family and friends may visit on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Larry Vriezlaar presiding. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian, MI.

Patti Jo, Thinking of you at this time and remembering your very kind mother. She was so nice to me when I visited your home often during our NDA days, and after. She always had a warm smile and was most patient with our fun loving lives as young girls!
