FEENY
Eric L. "Rick"
Eric L. "Rick" Feeny, 56, of Walbridge was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and passed away on December 8, 2012, at his home. Although he fought a hard battle, Eric accepted this and fought without complaint. Eric proudly wore a Union Civil War hat everywhere he went to help ensure the importance of that war, and that it is not forgotten. He had a passion for history, specifically Civil War and medieval periods. Abraham Lincoln was his hero. Eric was known for his extraordinary sense of humor and within minutes, he could have an entire room booming with laughter. Despite the fact that he had five brothers and one dear sister, he maintained a very close relationship with each of them. Eric was a warm-hearted and caring man that was always eager to help if anyone needed him. Family members would call from anywhere in the country to get directions if they were lost and Rick was always there to get them back on track. He was nicknamed "Rand McNally" for that reason. Although Eric was close with his many family members, he was exceptionally close to his daughter and two grandchildren. He was a terrific father and phenomenal grandfather. He provided guidance and was an unrelenting teacher and loyal friend.
Rick was born on February 3, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan to Edmund (Barbara Jones) Feeny. He was employed as a professional driver for area truck and limousine companies.
Eric is survived by his daughter, Sarah Ryley; grandchildren, Cameron Kolb and Sawyer Ryley; mother, Barbara Feeny; brother of Edmund (LuAnn) Feeny, Shirleen Ross, Gregg Feeny, Dann Feeny, Gary (Robin) Feeny, and Bryan Feeny.
There will be an upbeat celebration of Eric's life held at the V.F.W. Post #9963 at 109 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465. Family and friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until Midnight. Dinner and beverages will be served, with casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Walbridge (419-666-3121). Online condolences may be sent to

Uncle Rick was an amazing guy..I was with him his last few days and i would sit there for hours holding his hand and coloring him pictures. The last thing he said to me was he loved me and he wanted a drink of coke..oh, him and that coke! Im gonna miss him, i didn't really spend alot of time with him, but when i did he surely made me laugh! I love you and miss you uncle Rick, and prayers go out to the rest of my step-family.

Eric was a unique individual always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. My strongest memories of Eric tie to our weekly poker nights of course this goes back quite a ways these are memories I'll cherish. We pulled off some crazy stunts back in the day and would laugh our butts off listening to Bill Cosby & Steve Martin albums....slapstick type comedy at it's best. The confederate hat was his trademark....never seen him without it! My sincere condolences to the Feeny family. Eric will be missed.....never forgotten.

Uncle Rick was one of the funniest men I have ever known. His ability to stay calm and keep things in perspective always amazed me. I haven't spent much time with him in recent years, but my memories of him have left a lasting imprint. Sarah, I am genuinely sorry this has happened, but rest assured he is no longer suffering. Love you :)

I am so sorry for the loss you all share. Rick was a great cousin and I know what a wonderful grandfather he was. I will never forget how much he loved Cameron and how much he did for him when we brought Mom and Dad to Ohio in 2003. He simply adored that baby. I know he fought a hard battle, as did all of you, and that he will really be missed. Love you Aunt Barb and wishing peace and comfort to you all.
