Joan E.
Joan E. Boyer, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2013. She was born August 16, 1922, to Botner and Lucile (Irvin) Elam. Joan was a 1941 graduate of Columbus North High School and attended Ohio State University. She was employed for many years as Director of Christian Education at St. Michael's in The Hills Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her sons, John B. (Mary Lynn) and Jeffery C. Boyer; 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; along with many cousins. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Boyer, and her parents.
A Resurrection Celebration will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4718 Brittany Rd, Toledo, with a reception immediately following. Memorial contributions in Joan's name are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be shared at
