Arthur M. Clendenin Jr., 79, triumphantly entered Heaven's Gates Tuesday evening, September 17, 2013, while family gathered at his bedside singing hymns. Arthur was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Arthur M. Clendenin Sr. and Dorothy Shivers Clendenin. He attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in business, followed by a career in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He married, Judy Rogers on September 20, 1958, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and they moved to Royal Oak, MI. Arthur

began his professional career with Price Waterhouse as a staff accountant and quickly obtained his CPA Certification. After stints in New York City and Detroit, Michigan, he finally settled in the Toledo, Ohio area where he remained for the next 46 years. As an entrepreneur, he formed his own accounting firm in 1972, and as it grew, he formed and mentored several lasting business partnerships that are carrying on the high standards of business that helped propel him to success.

A member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Toledo, Ohio, Arthur was an ordained elder, Stephen Minister, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Treasurer. He was active in the Sylvania Chamber of Commerce and served as Ethics Chairman for the Ohio Society of CPAs. He was a member of the Toledo Jaycees. Moving to Gladewater, Texas, in 2005, he joined the Friends of the Lee Public Library, where he held offices of Treasurer and President. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Longview. At a very young age he developed a passion for photography and carried that focus into the digital age. Much of Arthur's spare time was consumed by his love for reading and Michigan State football and basketball. He and Judy love to travel, especially enjoying cruises. They created many lasting memories with the family through the years.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Judy; son, Arthur M. (Mary Lou) Clendenin, III; daughters, Christine Clendenin, Nancy (Christian) Dederer, Ruth Clendenin; sister, Sally (Paul) Martin; granddaughters, Diana Clendenin, Lou Ellen (Luke) Hebert, Amy (Clint) Carroll; grandson, Andrew Dederer, and great-granddaughters, Katelyn Clendenin and Annaleigh Hebert.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Longview. In lieu of flowers, the family

requests that memorial gifts be sent to First Presbyterian Church, Longview, TX; US 80 Highway Rescue Mission (Longview, TX); Lee Public Library (Gladewater, TX); Christ Presbyterian Church (Toledo, OH); or to the . A memorial service in Toledo will be scheduled for a later date.
