Barbara Carter

Barbara Lee (VanBuskirk)

Barbara L. Carter, 74, of Toledo, Ohio went home to the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2013, peacefully surrounded by her family. Barb, known to many as "Ma Carter" was a true matriarch. A courageous leader set in her ways and always in charge, she made sure everyone and everything was taken care of. If you were not family, you would be as soon as you walked through her door. Meals were never scarce; her home never empty. As well as birthdays and holidays, avid card playing and lots of laughter filled Barb's home daily. When not in the kitchen or making sure every object in the house was tidy and in place, she spent her time at the bingo hall or out enjoying a movie. Barb enjoyed many years with her loving husband Frank E. Carter of 45 years at Gateway Campground in Hillsdale, MI where they together made numerous friends and memories. Though she will be missed tremendously by so many, we know her spirit lives on and her lessons of love, family, generosity and kindness will remain instilled within us forever.

Barb is survived by her sister, Delores "Jane" Wandersee; children, Michael (Dawn) Carter, James (Sandy) Carter, Lorie (Daniel) Lewis, Keith Carter, Robert (Lindsay Webb) Carter, Michelle Moores (Don Howard) and very loved friend, Marcia Holmes (Chris Felix); grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Abby) Carter, Brian (Amanda) Carter, Tiffany (Brandyn) Sinacola, Stephanie (Seth) Buckman, Cristen, Anna, Zachary, Jessica, Candice (Rob) Huebner, Courtney (Jeff) Kuehne, Ashley, Mindy, Nathan, Brittany, Addison, Frank E., Owen, Dylan, Logan, Randy, Jeremy, Aaron, Scott, and Amy, and great-grandchildren, Emmett, Aubriella, Ava, Morgan and Emma. Preceded in death by parents, Odetta "Dutch" (Anderson) and Bert VanBuskirk; sisters, Dorothy, Ada (sis), and brothers, Bert (Bud) and Donald.
