Barbara Grace Onstott (Lukens) passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 1, 2013 at 3:55 p.m. at the Hospice House of Wake County in Raleigh, NC. She was 82 years old. She is survived by her sisters, Peggy Tieman (twin), Jean Gehringer; daughter, Janet Onstott Lowe; son, Allen

Onstott and grandchildren, James Taylor, Katherine,

husband, Louis Onstott, preceded her in death in 1995.

Barbara graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1948 and went to Michigan State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in elementary education. She loved teaching young children and taught for over 20 years at schools in Long Beach, CA, Perrysburg, OH, and Louisville, KY. In 1955 she met and married her husband, Louis Onstott, in Toledo. Over the course of their long marriage they lived in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Illinois. In 1992 they retired to Phoenix, Arizona where they enjoyed traveling, golf, and visiting their children. After Lou's passing, she continued to enjoy travel with friends and family. In 2009 Barbara moved to Raleigh, NC to be closer to her daughter.

Barbara will be missed for her sense of adventure, her friendship, her positive attitude, her wry sense of humor and grace in difficult circumstances. She was a great example straight through to the end of her days.

A memorial service will be held at the Collingwood Presbyterian Church Chapel in Toledo, Ohio at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013. The Reverend Robert Anderson will be officiating. A private burial with the family will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.
