Bernard E. "Uncle Bennie"

Bernard E. Walczewski, age 91, of Toledo passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born on February 12, 1922, in Toledo, OH to Andrew and Anna (Bugan) Walczewski. An Army Air Force Veteran of WWII, he was a Sergeant in the 49th Bombardment Squadron, 2nd Bombardment Group, in the 15th Air Force, and a charter member of AM Vets Post 63. Bernard was employed as a carpenter by ARCO, Inc. for 16 years, retiring in 1983. Before that, he was a carpenter for Pete Angle Builders for 10 years. He very much enjoyed carpentry, gardening and fishing.

Bernard is survived by his brothers, Walter (Gertrude) Walczewski, and Fred King; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Virginia Walczewski; sisters, Angeline Jakubowski, Helen Flaczynski Miller, Regina Sadowski, Martha Kemler, and Marie Walczewski, and sister-in-law, Janet King.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. James Auth presiding. Services will conclude with a Military Committal in Calvary Cemetery.
