George G.

George Hill went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2013 peacefully in his home.

George was born on December 21, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, to George Hill Sr. and Gladys Taylor Hill who preceded him in death. George graduated from Scott High School in 1939. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a bus driver for Community Traction where he was the first Black charter driver. He then retired from Tarta in 1983 after 35 years of service.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bertha R. Hill; sister, Pearl Artis and son, Richard Staunton. He leaves to cherish his memory, brother Malcolm (Priscilla) Hill of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; daughters Eileen (James) Turner of Stockton, California, and Marlene (Rodney) Toms of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren, Andre (Maxine) Toms, Rochelle (Charles) McCall, Charles Tisdale, Jr., Kenny Tisdale, Kimberli Tisdale, Crystal (William) Austin and Kori (Laticea) Turner. Nine great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.

At Georges request there will be no memorial. The family would like to thank all his friends and very special friends Veronica Smith and George Young who helped take care of him in his last days.
