Harold E. "Uncle Harold"

Harold E. Silverthorne, 92 years, of Temperance, MI died Friday, December 20, 2013, in his home. He was born August 30, 1921, in Toledo, OH to Louis A. and Lillian L. (Schramm) Silverthorne. Number nine of thirteen children, he grew up working on the family farms in London, MI and Erie, MI and retired from the A&P Tea Company in 1975. He served in the Army of the United States during WWII as an MP. Uncle Harold had a heart of gold, always wore a smile and had a joke to tell.

He is survived by his great- niece and her husband, Jolaine and Rick Petersen, and his special girls, great-great-nieces, Kiersten and Kendall Petersen. He will also be missed by his best friends, Betty Salati and Judy Pompof.

The family would like to thank Uncle Harold's aid, Nancy and LPN Darice, from Great Lakes Care, all the staff at Christian Home Care, and nurse, Michael Pellerino, who helped us give the best care to Uncle Harold.

As Uncle Harold requested, his life was celebrated in a private service at Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI with burial being held in Brigham Cemetery, Erie, MI and Military Honors were conducted by Lambertville VFW Post #9656.
