Helen D. Hill, age 83, formerly of Belmar Avenue, passed away August 15, 2013, at Parkcliffe Northwood, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Helen was born July 9, 1930, in Sylvania, Ohio to Floyd and Gertrude Bowers. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, class of 1948. Helen married Ed "Wimp" Hill on August 26, 1950, at Augsburg Lutheran Church.
Helen retired in 1990 from the Toledo Health Department, where she was a secretary for 27 years. Helen and Wimp were devoted Ohio State University
football fans and spent many memorable years cheering on their Buckeyes at home and away games. She was an excellent seamstress, a lifelong animal lover and craft enthusiast. Helen and Wimp were proud supporters of the start High School Sideliners booster club.
Helen is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Edwin "Wimp" Hill; her two sons, Jeff (Cindy) of Pemberville, OH and Doug (Mary) of Clayton, OH; grandchildren, Leah (Randy) Hollyday of Pemberville, OH, Mike (Adrienne) Hill of Willard, OH, Kristin Hill of Bedford, IN, Shannon Hill of Clayton, OH; great-grandsons, Damien and Domanic Hollyday, and nephew, Bob (Joann) Heineman of Santa Teresa, NM. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Heineman.
Friends are invited to visit after 10 a.m. Monday, August 19 at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, where services will commence at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at www.ansberg-west.com
