Henry "Hank" Dempsey, age 70, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Mercy St Vincent Medical Center after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma. Hank was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 26, 1944, to James and Mary Ella Dempsey. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School class of 1962.
Hank worked as an Iron Worker for 32 years, retiring in 2004. He was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 55. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where at certain moments in time he served all possible offices on a local level. Hank was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose
Lodge #1579, and the Ottawa River Yacht Club. He enjoyed auto racing, watching Central Catholic High School football games, playing golf with friends, and playing euchre. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who will miss him greatly.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Sheila), Greg (Katie), Steve (Christine) and Brian (Julia) Dempsey; 10 grandchildren and his brother, Robert Dempsey. He is also survived by several aunts and cousins; as well as countless friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held May 31, 2014, at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623 at 9:30 a.m.; the family will greet guest starting a half hour prior to the service. A celebration of Hank's life will follow the service from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA) Hall, 5255 N. Detroit Avenue, Toledo, OH 43612. Please come in casual attire to the celebration; this was Hank's request.
