James E.

James E. Cornett, affectionately know as "Jimmy Squirt", passed away on October 29, 2012, at the age of 64. Born to Wade and Ellena Cornett in Hazard, KY. Jimmy was a graduate of Jesup W. Scott in 1966 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jimmy graduated from Wayne State Mortuary College in 1986 and worked in the funeral industry for several years. Jimmy retired from the Laborers Union Local 500 and founded/co-owned Photogenics Photography Studio. He was an avid dancer, teaching ballroom dancing and a dedicated member of Narcotics Anonymous for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, Andre Denise Woodson-Cornett; mother, Ellena Cornett; children, Jamie (Orlando "Pete") Loyd, Adrian and Sonya Woodson; sisters, Acquanetta Gregory, Cassandra (Lee) Byers of Houston, TX, Elaine (Arthur) Cornett-Thomas of Mint Hill, NC and Kathi Cornett; grandchildren, Kayla, Orlando R., Jonathan, Nakisha and Shanise; one great-grandchild, Alaysia, and a host of family and friends.

Services are Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 12:00 noon at United Vision Baptist Church 821 E. Manhattan Blvd. preceded by 11:00 a.m. wake. Visitation is Tuesday 7:00-9:00 p.m. at The House of Day Funeral Home. Please sign register book at www.houseofday.com
