Jerry J. Jagos, age 88, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, after a short stay in Hospice. He was born in Toledo on September 4, 1925, to John and Katherine (Tomecek) Jagos. Jerry attended Waite High School and left to join the United States Navy
at the age of 18 and served in the South Pacific abroad the destroyer escort, Dionne, during WWII
. After the war he worked at American Ship Builders. He was employed with Columbia Gas as a pipefitter for 28 years, retiring in 1988. He built the home he lived in for 56 years and enjoyed golf (achieved a hole in one at Sugar Creek), dancing playing cards with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry was prececed in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Jagos , siblings, John Jagos, Katherine Kuzma and Pauline Cordiak. He is survived by his loving children, Ruth Ann (Mark) Gerrard), Peggy (Greg) Conley, Jake (Maureen) Jagos, grandchildren, Michael (Melanie), Josh (Erinne), Jessica (Dustin), Janet, Jason, Megan, Jacob and 7 great- grandchildren.
Friends and family may visit H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301) on Wednesday, February 12 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Thursday beginning at 10:00 am. Private interment to follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
