Joseph A. Kleopfer, age 71, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, in The Toledo Hospital. Joseph was born in Toledo on September 17, 1941, the son of Cecil and Helen Kleopfer. He attended Sylvania Burnham High School, Penta County and was very proud to faithfully serve his country in the U.S. Army
. Joseph worked as service manager for Ryder Truck Co. and retired from Home Depot. He was a longtime ham radio operator (W8AYKF) and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
of the United States. He was an avid fisherman and loved boating, travelling and playing the trumpet. Joseph was an all-around handyman/ inventor who would putz around with many projects and help anyone with anything when needed. He had a beautiful smile, gorgeous baby blue eyes and a happy go lucky great attitude. He loved life and was a true friend to all. Most of all Joseph cherished his family and was extremely dedicated to his children.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Judy. He is survived by his children, Kim, Joe (Julie), Debbie (Alan) Kledzik and Richard (Jewels); 3 stepchildren; grandchildren, Danni, Joey, Doug, Sammi, Stormie, Nick, Chad and Jessica; step-grandchildren, Sara, Jordan and Julia Grace; great-grandchildren, Harlie and Jocelyn; brother, Roger (Norma); former wife and lifetime friend Barbara Pietras; numerous nieces, nephews and fishing buddies and his loyal loving dog Teddy.
Family and friends may visit on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the mortuary followed by interment with Military Honors at Toledo Memorial Park. The family extends thanks to the Toledo Hospital 10th Floor ICU Nurses and special thanks to Mary for their care of Joseph during his illness.
