Joseph L. Mennitt, age 89, of Reynolds Corners died April 24, 2013, while in residence at the Parkcliffe Community Toledo. He was the son of Leonard and Katherine Sturtz Mennitt, a graduate of Waite High School and served during WWII
with the 14th Armored Division of the 7th Army in the European Theatre receiving several decorations and citations, including a Purple Heart
, American Theatre Service Medal, European Theatre Service Medal with Bronze Stars
and WWII Victory Medal. He married the former Joanne Schimmel also of Toledo, who preceded him in 2009. Joseph attended Ohio State University
and received his Bachelor Degree in Engineering from the University of Toledo, followed by thirty years of employment with Owens-Illinois as a mechanical engineer. He was a longtime parishioner of Little Flower Church and member of its Men's Club. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Rita Mennitt and Leonard Mennitt.
Surviving are his children, John (Alice) Mennitt of Rockville MD, Joyce (William) Pasch and James Mennitt; sister, Kathleen (Thomas) Landon also grandchildren Meredith and Adrienne Mennitt, Jonathan and Thomas Pasch.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday May 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in Little Flower Church where family and friends will be received beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
