Kenneth Heer

Kenneth R.

Kenneth Rolland Heer, our family's Valentine, was born on February 14, 1929 and left us to be with his heavenly Father on November 7, 2012.

Ken went to DeVilbiss High School and spent his leisure time playing sports. His favorites were basketball and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. Ken worked at Graphic Arts, Butler Paper, and finished his career at Burroughs Corporation.

Ken loved the Detroit Tigers and raised true Tiger fans. He avidly followed their recent World Series run.

Ken loved Florida and took his family there on numerous vacations. He also was very fond of roller coasters, taking care of his yard, UT girls' basketball games, and he loved a good joke.

Ken is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 55 years, Ruth (Skinner) Heer; son, Richard (Gale) Heer; daughters, Sandra (Ross) Gamby and Julie (Eric) Burns, and grandchildren, Ron, Chris, Brianna, Katie, Kurt, and Kiersten.

The family would like to extend our gratitude for the wonderful care Ken received at Spring Meadows Senior Community for the past three years, as well as to Hospice of Northwest Ohio who helped to usher him into heaven.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to honor Ken's life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m. Pastor Dave Claassen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider Mayfair Plymouth Congregational Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences:
