On April 8, 2014, Leon Brown, 81 years, died at 5:36 a.m. Tuesday morning, at The Laurels of Toledo after an extended illness. He was the second of four sons, born to the union of Vincent and Inez Johnson Brown. He was born in Toledo, later moving to Sylvania with his family. He attended Toledo Public Schools and Burnham High School in Sylvania, OH. Leon married Ann V. Bumpus in September of 1951, and returned to reside in Toledo. He spent his entire working years employed first with Bob Eddy Buick, several other car dealers, then with the Steve Taylor Dealership from which he retired. He never met a stranger; he enjoyed talking and joking with everyone. He was a friendly and likeable person.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ernest and Donald Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory, spouse, Ann; children, Pamela Brown-Birmingham, Leon Geoffrey Brown, and Steven James Brown; granddaughter, Erin Gabriella Birmingham, and brother, Edward "Eddie" Brown. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, whose lives have been enriched by having known him; and last, but not least, his best friend/running buddy and brother-in-law, Donald (Bonnie) Cranon.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, April 11 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1119 W. Bancroft St., preceded by visitation at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
