Louis A. Dandino, 86, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at his home. A Libby high school graduate and Drum Major, Louie left school early to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Louie worked 42 years for Toledo Trust Bank, retiring in 1988 as bank branch manager and assistant treasurer for Toledo Trust. A month before his retirement, Louie was able to stop a bank robbery in progress and restrained the robber by sitting on him until police arrived to arrest him. Louie was the last employee to retire from Toledo Trust before becoming Trust Corp. Following his retirement, he worked for the Toledo Zoo for several years.

Louie served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He and his wife, Geraldine were longtime members of the former Broadway United Methodist Church and also members at Church of St. Andrew UMC. He was a member of South Toledo Exchange Club, South Toledo Neighborhood Housing Organization, Korean War Veterans, a member of the former Calumet and currently of the Northern Light Masonic Lodge.

Louie was the first president of Westfield Teentown. After retirement Louie and Geraldine enjoyed traveling around the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Grazia (Pardee) Dandino; his brother, Richard and wife, Patricia Dandino. Louie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geraldine (Morton) Dandino; sons, Mike (Sandy), David (Paula), Gary (Kandy) Dandino; grandchildren, Adrianna, Michael R., Charles, Amanda, Kayla, Tony, Karlee and Joseph, and great-granddaughters Alexandra and Ella.

Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., on Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 2 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Church of St. Andrew UMC, 3620 Heatherdowns Blvd. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the church.
