Mae Royal (Glover)
Mae Royal (Glover) Brown of Toledo passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Mae was born in Oxford, North Carolina on March 12, 1926 to Lillie and Otis Glover. She was a Toledo Public school teacher
for 34 years teaching mentally challenged children, grades 3-6 at the old Gunkel School and Raymer School. She had been married to and divorced from the Rev. Vincent M. Brown.
Mae was an avid sports fan who enjoyed all sports, especially football, basketball, baseball, golf, NASCAR racing, track and field and boxing. She was an animal lover and avid bird-watcher. Mae also loved the faithful canine companions she had over the years, Toni, Nipper and Sir Duke of Ellington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lenora Glover and brothers, Connie R. Glover and Hartwell (Mack) Glover. She is survived by her loving son, Kelvin A. Brown and granddaughter, Sydney Mae Brown. Although their time together was brief and limited, nothing gave Mae more enjoyment than the time she spent with her granddaughter, Sydney.
Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, 2934 Stickney Ave., Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
