Patricia Yvonne "Pat" SIEFERT

SIEFERT Patricia "Pat" Yvonne Patricia (Pat) Yvonne Siefert, 87, of Blissfield, MI, died serenely on July 26, 2012, under the exquisite care of the staff at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, OH. Pat was born on April 28, 1925, in Toledo, OH, to Russell Holland Thomson and Edna Vera (Abbott) Thomson. Pat was a graduate of Burnham High School in Sylvania, OH. She was married for twenty-four years to Duane Siefert. She was employed by People's Savings and Loan as a teller, where she survived a bank robbery in the 70's, after being held at gunpoint. Pat retired and moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where her mother and father had spent their later years. However, missing her family, she returned to Ohio, (Delta) spending her golden years enjoying being near her loved ones. Pat became a member of Delta's Swan Creek Community Church where she was cherished like family for many years. Unfortunately, as life unfolded, it became necessary for her to follow family to Blissfield, MI in 2007. Not one to let moss grow under her feet, she was introduced to a fun-loving gang of ladies called "The Blissfield BOB'S", and her "golden years" were much brighter because of them. In 2008, Pat was awarded the Presidential Volunteers' Service Award, representing 4,000 hours over a lifetime spent volunteering with various groups, many of which she did with her sister Bettie. At age 65, she joined the Peace Corps to serve in Sierra Leone, Africa, where she lived amongst the impoverished but generous Kono villagers. All who knew her appreciated her imagination, quick wit, and easy laughter. She was a beauty, with eyes the color of the Mediterranean. She was a talented tailor/seamstress and made most of her children's clothes. She had a beautiful singing voice that she put to good use in the choir at Collingwood United Methodist Church, where she was a member with her sister. Pat was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, offering unconditional love, support, comfort, and homespun wisdom. She will be deeply missed by family and friends though her lively spirit will live on within us. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Bettie Ihrig, and her brother, Bob Thomson. She is survived by her very fortunate children, Rick Siefert, Connie (John) Kwiatkowski, and Lynn (Bill) Siefert Cooper; five grandchildren, Jacob (Wendy) Siefert, Melanie (James) Clark, Dustin Siefert, Brandy (Jon) Gadd, and Michael Gillen, and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Abby, Luke, Paige, and Emma. A memorial will be held in celebration of Pat's life and its transcendence on August 4, 2012 3:00 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH 43560. 419-882-2033. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia Yvonne Siefert's name to Ebeid Hospice Residence 5200 Harroun Rd., Sylvania, OH 43560.
