Raymond H. Hehl, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2013, at Sunset Village, of congestive heart failure. Ray was born June 9, 1939, to Raymond E. and Arlene G. Hehl. He graduated from Libbey High School in 1957. He served four years in the US Navy. Ray was a Toledo Firefighter
for 26 years. He was appointed on October 13, 1967, and promoted to Lieutenant on May 4, 1979, and later promoted to Captain on October 30, 1988. He served at the following stations, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, and F.P.B. He retired on January 29, 1993.
Ray enjoyed boating, fishing, and the special family times spent at their cottage at Sand Beach in Oak Harbor, Ohio.
Ray is survived by his devoted wife, of 53 years, Joan; children, Jeffery A. Hehl, Christopher D. (Donna) Hehl, and Todd M. (Karen) Hehl; grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Emily, Heather, and Shawn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James T. Hehl, and daughter, Kimberlee Sue Hehl.
Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Monday, October 14, from 2 until 8 p.m. T.F.D. Last Alarm Service will be held Monday evening, at 7 p.m. Funeral service will begin at the funeral home Tuesday, at 10 a.m., followed by burial with military honors at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, Ohio.
