Robert R. Jr.

Robert R. Williams, Jr. born on February 9, 1932, in Asheville, North Carolina to Robert R. and Elouise Burton Williams, Sr. He left his earthly body to be eternally present with the Lord on May 9, 2013, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a long illness.

After graduation from high school in Asheville, Bob moved to Toledo, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the US Army. Following military service, he was a government service employee with the Rossford and Erie Ordinance Depots for ten years. He entered Tuskegee Institute in 1963. He was an active member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and toured extensively as a member of the famed Tuskegee Institute Choir. Bob earned a bachelor's degree from Tuskegee Institute, a Master's of Education from Bowling Green State University, and an Education Specialist degree from The University of Toledo.

He began his rewarding career with Toledo Public Schools in 1967, moving from teacher and retiring as a Work Study Coordinator in Special Education with more than 25 years of service.

Bobby joined Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in 1950 under the leadership of Rev. S. M. Coleman, serving in various capacities, choir member, male chorus member, and church musician, Missionary Society member and many more special positions. He retired as church treasurer in 2011 after more than 20 years of service.

His fraternal affiliations include the Triumph Lodge AF & M - of which he was Financial Secretary, Royal Arch Masons, Knights Templar, Eastern Star, and Shriners.

He was preceded in death by both parents and sister Saldo Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory sisters, Louise R., Jacqueline Patricia, and Shelly D. Williams, and brothers, Charles F., James A, and Calvin L. Williams. Special friends Calvin King and James Martin as well as his Mt. Pilgrim family. Special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, wake service 6:00 p.m. and funeral service following at 7:00 p.m. all at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tracey Brown, officiant, interment Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Asheville, NC.
