Walter "Len" L.

Walter "Len" L. Swigonski, 87, formerly of Point Place and a past resident of West Park Place, died peacefully Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born in Lafferty, OH on April 4, 1925 to the late Walter and Caroline (Scheithauer) Swigonski.

Len served his country proudly and courageously in the United States Navy during WWII, his country is forever grateful of his service. He was employed over 30 years, retiring in 1986, for Nabisco. Len was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church; he enthusiastically served on countless committees including Parish Council. Compassion driven, Len also volunteered in the Feed Your Neighbor Program. Reading was a passion for Len. Because of his difficulty in reading small print, he became instrumental in obtaining many large print books for the Toledo Lucas Country Library Point Place Branch. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed watching harness racing at Raceway Park so much so that he purchased his own trotter to run there. All who knew and loved Len will miss and cherish his memory.

Surviving Len are his sons, David Swigonski and Ronald (Nancy) Swigonski, and grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Swigonski. Len was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret (Kozma) in 1976, and brother, Theodore Swigonski.
