HARTMAN

Wayne George

On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, Wayne George Hartman passed from this life surrounded by his loving family. He had been a resident at Green Ridge Village Retirement Community since June of 2010. Wayne was born September 16, 1917, and grew up in Toledo, Ohio; he attended Toledo University and later graduated from Ohio State University in 1941. He remained an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan throughout his life. He was a veteran of the US Army in WWII, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent. After the war he left the service, married his wartime sweetheart, Margie Sinclair from Hampton, VA and moved back to Toledo where he began work at the architectural and engineering firm of Bellman, Gillette & Richards; he worked there until his retirement in 1985.

In 1947 Wayne and Margie moved to the family farm in Woodville, Ohio and spent the next sixty-three years raising their four children and any number of dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, lambs and even a toggenburg goat. They kept a large orchard and garden and enjoyed the wildlife - birds, deer and rabbits - and the country life in general outside their small town of Woodville.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sinclair 'Margie' Hartman, and his children, Martha Maclay (Gary) of Charlottesville, VA, Beverly Lehman (Randy) of Newville, PA, Barbara Wilde (Chip) of Ogden, UT, and son, Fred Hartman (Kellie) of Spring Grove, IL; as well as twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville, PA on May 18, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. by the Reverend Galen Work.
