William "Bill"

William "Bill" Bermick, 88, formerly of Toledo, Ohio and Lambertville, Michigan went to be with the King of Kings, Jesus Christ on Thursday February 28, 2013. He was in the care of Magnum Health Care in Adrian, Michigan for the past few years and his caretakers affectionately nicknamed him "Sweet William."

Bill graduated from Lambertville High School in 1942 and Adrian College with a degree in printing. He was employed by Gross Photo Supply Company as a pressman and Len Beach Associates in Toledo for over 19 years before starting The Bermick Press in 1965 on Alexis Road in Trilby. In 1969, he moved his business to Alexis and Telegraph in Toledo, which remained there until he retired in 1995. After retirement, he sold antiques under the name of Northtowne Antiques at the same location. The signs on his company trucks always read, "You always look better when you smile, keep smiling, The Bermick Press."

Bill was awarded a Purple Heart for his actions during the Okinawa invasions during WWII. Bill was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1945.

He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in West Toledo, the Knights of Columbus, VFW and he was the former president of the United Paper Makers and Paper Workers Union Local 185 in Toledo.

His younger brother, Steve "Sam" Bermick from Temperance, MI and his sister, Helen Huchek from Adrian, MI preceded Bill in death. Surviving are his loving children, Michael (Dara) Bermick, Kathleen (Marty) Knowlton and Douglas Bermick; grandchildren, Angela, Susan, Robert and John; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Marah and Josh.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. at Jackman Temperance, MI, where a memorial service and U.S. Navy Honors will follow at 7:00 p.m.
