Marilyn ZEITER Obituary

ZEITER Marilyn (Bowling) Marilyn Bowling Zeiter, 74, passed away on May 23, 2012. Marilyn was born in Cumberland, Kentucky, on February 9, 1938, to Caleb and Opal Adams Bowling. The family moved to Toledo where she graduated from Woodward High School. Marilyn married Cloyd Zeiter on November 22, 1958. She attended Toledo University and graduated in 1961 with a degree in Education. Later, she returned to Toledo University and earned her Master's in Education and Specialist degree. Marilyn retired from Rossford School District having taught third grade for 30 years. Marilyn loved touching the lives of children and making a positive difference in their world through teaching. The Zeiter's resided in Perrysburg for over 24 years. Marilyn was one of the founding members of Perrysburg First Baptist Church. After their children graduated from college, they moved to Holland, where they built their dream home. Enjoying the golden years, the Zeiter's spent their summers in Ohio and wintered in Florida. Marilyn was an avid reader and was very proud of her Appalachian heritage. A life-long learner and lover of music, she would later be the co-founder of the Dulcimer Club in The Villages, FL. Marilyn was also involved in Spanish classes, bridge club, knitting and crochet clubs, and pursued violin lessons. Marilyn deeply loved her husband of 54 years, her children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Cloyd H. Zeiter, The Villages, FL; son, C. Eli, daughter-in-law, Susan, and grandson Cloyd Forrest, Reno, NV; and daughter, Bridget Zeiter Klingler, son-in-law, David, and grandchildren, Chloe, Benson, and Olivia, Woodstock, GA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In loving memory of Marilyn's passion for teaching and her Appalachian heritage, the family suggests donations be made to the Museum of Appalachia, P.O. Box 1189, Norris, TN 37828. www.museumofappalachia.com (865.494.7680) will be used to provide program scholarships to underserved school children. It is so reassuring to read of all these tributes to my sister, Marilyn. She was always driven to succeed from the time she was a young child. Her academic and financial success have provided opportunities for her children and grandchildren that she had to work diligently to achieve. I hope they all understand that I admired her hard work and that I loved her.

I'll always remember Marilyn as a fun and loving person in high school and college. I am glad that we were able to connect with each other these past couple of years. Will miss her.

The Zeiters were our next door neighbors when we moved to Perrysburg.
Their family was full of love and warmth. We have and have always had great neighbors, but the Zeiters will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our deepest sympathy to Cloyd, Eli and Bridget and your families.

Marilyn and I taught third grade together at Glenwood School for two years. I have thought of her so many times in recent years. She always lit up when she talked about her husband and children. She was a wonderful person.
