Ellis Carl
Ellis Carl Kirk, age 81 of Toledo passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born May 1, 1934, in Freeburn, Kentucky to Albert and Virginia (Conn) Kirk and was a retiree of Jones Transfer. He gave his heart to the Lord March 21, 1971, and was a longtime active member of Northwest Baptist Church. Ellis was an accomplished musician and songwriter with many recorded songs. He was also a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
Preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings, he is survived by his wife, Ann; children, James (Lola) Kirk, David Kirk, Andy (Linda) Staton, Sherrie (Jimmie) Wilson, Pati Carmichael, Cindy (Mike) Stager, Becky (Mike) Tabrizipour and Penny (Joe) Montell; 40 grandchildren; 30 great; 1 great-great; and brothers, Harold Kirk and Glen (Barb) Kirk.
Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Monday from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. in Northwest Baptist Church 3906 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo with funeral services at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the family at

To the family of Ellis Kirk, my dad Tom Frisch was the drummer on a few records they made back in the day, when our dad passed, he was so sweet to come and say goodbye. There are 5 of us girls, we made over him while he was there, taking pictures, he smiled so much, we talked about Sweetie Pie, one of the records, time got away we wanted to get together and hear stories of him and our dad. My heart goes out to you all. Thoughts and prayers...Sharon Frisch and her sisters Carol, Darlene, Karen and Jenny. Love and prayers

I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Ellis. He was a very nice and quiet man. Ellis will be missed by everyone that knew him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Anne and the rest of the Kirk family. Rest In Peace Ellis you are in a better place now.
